Taking us straight onto a mystique-imbued voyage into the heart of the jungle, Sidartha Siliceo’s debut on A Tribe Called Kotori ‚Sylvan Kraft‘ is a magic two-piece exploration of our oneirism-infused relationship with nature and its inhabitants. Inspired by the nightly encounter with a rare type of jaguar called ‚jaguarundi‘ following a ceremony held on top of a pyramid temple named ‚el mirador‘ (the observatory), Siliceo’s EP aims to translate the „awe, admiration and respect for the jungle mysterious sprits“ through the hypnotic sound of sitar – Siliceo’s go-to instrument. Made in collaboration with Aaron Suiss, the title-track ‚Jaguarundi‘ mimics the slow walking rhythm of its totem animal, its feline syncopations echoing that of the jaguarundi’s nimble gait, as the drums beat a slo-burning pulse and ritual-like incantations billow out up above the sleeping canopy and into the star-studded sky. The second cut, featuring Dangur, works a more progressive, DJ-friendly, straightforward type of groove, where sitar, piano and analogue synths all join up on a dreamy, club-ready ride, perfect for transitioning from night into day, and release the long-slumbering animal in you, in both spirit and body. „Human is the Poetic Animal that runs wild in the jungle of language“ after all.
